Greetings johnh, Obviously I hear the “Hello” in the center of the clip. What I’m not sure about are the sounds immediately before and after the Hello. I don’t know if the recorder was in your hand or otherwise being moved or placed into position. If it was, it could be nothing more than the sound of movement. Assuming, that it is not movement, then Apophenia may be coming into play and I wouldn’t want to give an opinion without knowing more info on it. As you may know, Apophenia is the auditory condition where the brain tries to make order out of chaos by hearing words in sounds that just aren’t there. The visual form of this condition is called Pareidolia, which allows us to see bunnies and other things in clouds, textured walls and so forth and so on. Because the way the waveform of the “Hello” looks, it would suggest this clip could be a tad over-enhanced. If you could upload a raw un-enhanced version, I would be happy to give it another listen. If this is the raw clip, let me know that too. This is an interesting clip so if you could provide a bit more information, I would greatly appreciate it. Take Care, Ron

Hi Ron, Here is the clip again unfiltered (raw). I was not holding any mic at all. I was speaking into my webcam mic which was sitting on top of my laptop. see what you think it is... John Thailand Attachment: John's EVP Feb. 21, 2008.mp3 (Downloaded 773 times)

Hey John, Thanks for the additional upload. My wife and I just finished an hour-long EVP session and someone was coming through in quite a frantic manner. I feel compelled to review our own portion of that session to fully figure out what he was saying. I will get to your clip first thing in the morning and post what I can hear on it. I did give it a quick listen before our own session started and I can tell you there are more voices that the ones you hear before and after you say hello. See you in the morning, Ron

(yawn)….Good morning John, I’d offer you some coffee but I don’t drink the stuff. It always tasted like burnt water to me. Regarding you clip. Using Nero wave editor I hear the following: Time index: 0.0.059 – 0.0.883 On the surface, there is a male voice that says: “can you hear me” (If you highlight and gradually increase noise reduction, a background voice appears) This background voice is a mid-range male that says: “turn it off” Time index: 0.0.883 – 0.02.178 On the surface, it sounds like the predominant male voice is saying: “I’m farther” or “I’m father” Applying 2% noise reduction to this time frame, a slightly upper pitch male says: “let me help” (perhaps he’s talking to the person that wants something turned off” Time index: 0.02.784 – end of clip With a 7% noise reduction, the predominant voice says: “I’m from this earth” Thanks for allowing me to hear this clip, Ron

Hello Richard, Thank you for your evaluation of my EVP clip. Yes, it was very unusual to say the least. It seems like the spirits were looking over my shoulder and waiting for me to click on the Goldwave record button! Ha! Ha! Anyway, thanks again.... John Thailand
