Greetings johnh,

Obviously I hear the “Hello” in the center of the clip.

What I’m not sure about are the sounds immediately before and after the Hello.

I don’t know if the recorder was in your hand or otherwise being moved or placed into position. If it was, it could be nothing more than the sound of movement.

Assuming, that it is not movement, then Apophenia may be coming into play and I wouldn’t want to give an opinion without knowing more info on it.

As you may know, Apophenia is the auditory condition where the brain tries to make order out of chaos by hearing words in sounds that just aren’t there.

The visual form of this condition is called Pareidolia, which allows us to see bunnies and other things in clouds, textured walls and so forth and so on.

Because the way the waveform of the “Hello” looks, it would suggest this clip could be a tad over-enhanced.

If you could upload a raw un-enhanced version, I would be happy to give it another listen.

If this is the raw clip, let me know that too.

This is an interesting clip so if you could provide a bit more information, I would greatly appreciate it.

Take Care,
Ron
