Received this short EVP just awhile ago while using my Sony ICD-B300 recorder. I've had this IR Receiving Diode wired up since last year...and always tried it during the daytime and I would get nothing but very loud static...of course since there was MUCH light for it to turn into electrical signals.... Well tonight I decided to try it in the room with NO lights on. I recorded for a little over a minute...and at the 16 second mark I hear a young male voice say "it works Jim".............. I will upload the original "clipped" file and then a few that are amped a little and either high or lowpass filters used to enhance slightly. Still gonna be low audio...so headphones are a must. If to hard to hear...please download and amplify a little more. The voice is near center of clip.

Yes, This is just an infrared LED soldered to a 1/8 inch microphone plug. When used this way the LED will work as an Infrared Receiver... You can point it at any light source (will not detect LCD monitors) and there will be an increase in background "hiss" sounds....where often the EVP's are located. In this recording example I chose to record in the "dark" because daylight made a lot of noise...making it difficult to determine if any weak audio was available from an EVP

Thanks Debbie. I could hear a lower voice in there...but couldn't determine what was said.

Here is the website talking about this style microphone http://atransc.org/techniques/techniques_optical_microphone2.htm I guess it WILL pick up "lcd computer screens" too. Since it will also receive normal light and ultraviolet as well as Infrared light sources....(LCD's do not transmit infrared). I purchased 2 more IR Photodiodes and 2 - 1/8" (3.5mm) connectors (mono) today so I can make a few more....the numbers given in the discription for the Radio Shack stock numbers...are different as of today. They are 276-0145 (has a "0" in place now).

drrh wrote: Jim I can hear "it works Jim, I told you it would". Hi Deb, I think I can NOW hear what you are saying.... I hear the female voice saying "I told you it would" I couldn't hear it before....But I noticed this morning that my ears "seamed" to be a little more sensitive today...And I gave it a shot about 10 minutes ago. Sure enough I heard it. NICE going Debbie....good listening I've included this shortened "clip" of the above capture with both voices. No problem Jim! I don't take the credit for it though, it just jumps out at me! Sometimes I'm right, sometimes not! But I love to listen to clips anyway! It fascinates me!! Debbie

Thanks pol for your post. It sure is difficult with these very weak EVP's. So many times it can sound so different
