Lance,

I'm so sorry you have such a noisy version of Frank's Box for your first experience. Even under those conditions you can make out a reply to your inquiry. If yours is using AM band sweep you would get less noise with a magnetic loop antenna instead of a whip or straight wire antenna.

My Joe's Box version is FM, but I understand some areas of the UK may not have enough FM radio stations available. If I had the parts I would send one for you to try.

Joe

What unit do you have? What type of antenna is used? Any thing I can do I would  gladly do to help you.

Hello Joe,

OK, I have a radio shack pocket radio with the pin in the circuit snaped so that it will sweep the am channel.  I don't know if it is classed as Frank's box?

I don't have any antenna on it, must be built in I suppose? Is there anyway I can improve the sound quality on this?

Speak soon, Lance..

Lance,

There are designs on the internet for big resonant loop antennas for AM radios with small internal ferrite loop antennas. They improve signal levels by coupling a larger antenna to the internal one by proximity. The large loop is a coil that is connected to a capacitor that tunes to the center of the radio band. The small radio gets more signal to overcome the noise by being near the larger loop antenna.

Hello Lance,

It was so loud I could not get to the voice(s).  I did clean w/Clear Voice -Denoiser and listened to in Audacity and treated w/low pass filter and slowed a bit.  I do hear you speak about two-thirds of way through clip....I also, think I hear the name "Paul" spoken twice in this clip.

I have saved if you would like to have it posted here.

Thanks ~ Deborah

Lance --thank you for your response.  I was concerned I may have "cleaned" too much ....I used "Professional Mode" and a low level "Noise Reduction Degree".  However, please note:  I still hear utterances, at the same time/sec demarcations, as in the original/noisy sample.

Is it possible "Paul" could be the reponse to whom you are speaking to...i.e. a communicator/technical helper on the other-side?  Or, possibly a significant "Paul" connection here?

Hopefully, you and Joe C ( I have read your exchanges ) do "hook-up" to improve quality of box's performance for you/us the listeners.  Thank you for sharing, Lance.

One day you may do your wonderful video method at same time as Frank's Box to see if coincident image/voice can/may occur...... Take Care.

Deborah
