I love old fashion radio sweeps. Are these ghosthunterapps like huff paranormal scd-1 legit? I just don't understand how these computer based apps can work? Can anyone help me here?

It looks like it scans internet radio stations.
Depends on your personal point of view. Whether you believe the spirit is purely using raw audio to manifest, or if you believe there needs to be a form of electromagnetic energy vibrating an antenna.

I subscribe to both points of view. I wouldn't mind trying Steve's SCD-1, but for $50, I can make that stretch a lot further with a hardware box.

Since you use the word Legit....

Radio sweep devices and other apps and products are subjective.  Some people report success while others do not.

Even Mr. Huff explains that the experience one has using the SCD-1 can vary between users.

Why.  Well; everybody is different when it comes to hearing or interpeting what we hear or what we think we hear. Genetics, environmental and medical conditions like tinnitus are contributing factors.

Since the software just hit the market a couple of days ago, there are not many reviews or videos beyond the select few that had the opportunity to beta test the program.  If you value the input of folks like Mr. Huff or Tim Woolworth then you may be in for a treat.

As Doc Doof mentioned, the price is about $50 so keep that in mind.

Regards,
Ron

Update:

There now seems to be a work-around so the SCD-1 can run on Android devices:

I would imagine that in the upcoming days, more folks will post their results on youtube and soundcloud.
