Has anyone, while recording EVPs, caught what sounded like breathing, or breaths being exhaled? I have been picking these sounds up in my recordings for quite sometime now. I originally dismissed the breathig sounds as tainted recordings, because, after all, spirits don't breath!

The microphone I use to record my EVPS sits about three feet behind me. At first I thought I was catching myself exhaling, but then I started catching what sounded like someone breathing directly into the microphone. Whoever it was, finally had my attention. I started paying more and more attention to these breathing sounds, and becoming more conscience of my own breathing during recordings. The breathing sounds were not coming from me.

As an example of what I'm talking about, below is one of my recordings where I captured what sounds like whispering followed by an exhale. This clip was recorded in silence, and is unedited.

Yes! I thought that I hear what sounded like when someone is testing out a microphone and breathes into it on my second recording. It was one that I posted because I was so overcome with capturing anything ! There were lots of things banging and clanging noises and a few breaths into the recorder (?) etc. I hear it in yours as well, but I must add that I just announce that I am recording and leave the area and let it run for awhile, so I am not present as it records.  I also need to go back and analyze that first recording, because I bet there was more than breathing embedded deep in the recording, as I have found with the others. It's often like a treasure hunt..

Hello Sam,

Since your file was so faint,  what I did was to normalize it to -20db and then apply a very light noise filter.

This is what I got.

Hope it helps,
Ron

Thanks Ron! The exhale like sound is definitely louder.

I'm glad someone else hears it too!
