HI Lance...

From seeing the image in your posts, it's easy to not be looking with fresh eyes. Have always thought it looked like a person, but has been considered like waterfalls, space images and etc tagged to peoples postings. Looking at it in this new way should be a fun exercise.
Comparing features is still going to be somewhat difficult though, having only ever seen a few pics of Houdini and of course we all probably know of the great lengths the various sceance groups go to, to try and contact this particular guy.
Nevertheless...

The recorded image -
Your ITC image seems to show a male, probably of older years, with right hand held to his mouth. Such a pose seems similar to portraits where a person is thinking or musing and popular for intellectual types. That pose, from my knowledge, is a slight barrier method, a slight protection and often used by guys who don't have a small moustache or wear glasses.  Most people aren't over confident in appearance and for such a contact as within ITC it would be highly likely that a positive character (the coming forward) will still refrain from a complete outwardness. In that way, the ITC picture has a difference to many and increases it's likelihood, in my opinion, of being a real person of the character type of Houdini.

Comparisons -
Nose. Both appear of straighter shape, very small bridge and expanding toward the tip. The tip of Houdini's nose has a prominent extension, repeated in the ITC image.
Eyes. It's difficult to discern the placement or size of the eyes in the ITC image, though they are not large and appear similar. Difficult to make a judgement.
Cheek bone. Height within the face and shaping are very important areas. In this regard they appear to match very well. Height is approximately equal and the shaping too.
Mouth. Similarly thin and extending to a similar width. The hold of the mouth is consistant with the first posted image of the actual guy. In the second image, we still see the properties, and, even with the grimace, that mouth shape is still evidently a trait.
Chin. The distance of mouth to chin is important and seems to hold up well. He has a short distance between both features, in both the ITC image and the included pictures. The small chin area slightly protudes on both types of image.
Ears. Unfortunately not contained within the ITC image.
Hairline. Again not contained...we do have what appears to be a marking on the ITC image picture's forehead though.
Neck. Size and shape are missing from all pictures, in itself interesting but of no consequence.

All in all, my summary would be that the ITC image could very well be of the person in the photographs...Harry Houdini :)
