 When I attempted to recreate the tones by adding 13 audio files in audio software, I also had problems. I don't know the technical term, but the addition of the audio tones seemed to modulate themselves - producing what was posted above. It sounded horrible and muddy.

I found that software that generated the tones simultaneously didn't have this problem, so that's what I used for my experiments.

The one I liked the best was NCH tone generator.
