I appreciate the information Vicki, it is useful. As for the correlation between day and night...I don't think it is a hinderance on their side of the veil but ours. Our atmosphere, as dense and crude as it is allows for better reception in the day or night depending on the frequencies used. This is mostly due to solar cycles the ionosphere's reaction to those cycles. During the day, frequecies need to be higher than at night for terrestrial radio comunications (typically in the AM and SW bands). At night it takes less power and lower frequencies to make clear communications.
