I loved you story with your mum and the numbers on the television !!! and the visit your mum got from your dad. These things make it easier to take the blow.
It is nice to be with like minded people, there are no judgments or looking at you with that funny eye !!!
There are some incredibly technical people here that know a lot about electronics. I can only wish I can get to their level and maybe one day build a board also.
