Hi Stefan. That's an interesting circuit - rather like the wide-band noise generators which use the noise generated by a zener diode, although yours is a forward-biased germanium diode in a magnetic field. (I like the fact that you have paralleled the electrolytic decoupling capacitors with 0.1uF - folks often forget or ignore the limitations of electrolytic capacitors.)
