If this is William James the psychologist, it's particularly interesting...William developed an interest in Spirit mediums, was president of the American Society for Psychical Research- he actually coined the term "parapsychology" James worked extensively with a gifted Spirit medium by the name of Leonora Piper, recording detailed documentation of her readings. **Here's the interesting part: though he deemed Spirit mediumship a legitimate endeavor, he NEVER believed the "soul" survived death...thought the medium's nervous system or energy alone produced the evidence.
