I am interested in the same thing, I am also interested in getting more radios as it seems the big dollar store here doesn't have them anymore and the other dollar store charges $3.00 (not a big deal really)

Is the chip the 'sc 1088'?

I am trying to implement the 555 timer chip to control the scan and reset button functions. The buttons may be replaced by photo-resistors and the 555 would provide the light pulses through LEDS.

I highly recommend Yenka, free to use at home, you can make your own circuits and see if they work, then head to the parts shop when you know what you need.

Only problem is that I have not figured out the photo-resistor/LED thing yet, hopefully soon.

Go see the other thread to learn how you may(?) disable the mute in order to get all the channels, not just the strong ones.

I am in the same boat as you.
I am happy this 'slider' person responded to my questions, he/she has better answers than me, I am just learning what I can.

Good luck!
