I will read up on the SS relay.

Right now that's the biggest question I have...
Using the 555 as a way of completing a switch (acting as a button) to an independent device (sc 1088) I want the 555 pulses to act as the scan button, with a scan advance every astable pulse.

I have a freecycle in my city on the East Coast of Canada, I also have stuff I don't need.

The scan rate can be with a pot yep, i'm not sure of the value from memory, but a full sweep may be 8 seconds and, blip, the 555 will reset the scan.
Can the 555 set the scan advance rate and reset at the end of the scan as well?
Would I need a 2nd 555 chip, one to scan advance, one set to reset every x seconds?
Or is there a way to modify the sc 1088 to scan non-stop through the whole band, does bypassing the mute through a resistor do this too?

PS, the lowest 3 lead pot I could find was 5k Ohms, I will use that for now on the sc 1088.

Thanks again.
