There has always been communication with the afterlife. It wasn't until the beginning of the 20th century that technology became advanced enough to allow us to not only experience these contacts, but also allow us to record and document them. Technology has made it possible for people who don't express or possess gifted psychic or mediumistic skills to experience communication with those who have passed on. Since the early 1900's, many people have been communicating with the afterlife using technical means and documenting their research for the world to see. Today, there are many researchers from around the world working together in groups to research and advance these contacts. Instead of me attempting to compile a complete history of documented communication with the "dead", I will provide various links to other websites created by people who have already taken the time to compile the history of the influential people in this field. If I were to attempt to compile a history, it would inevitably be incomplete and not accurately cover all of the people involved. Much of the information can be found on the websites to the right. Here are various links which can provide you with more information on individuals and their contributions to ITC. EVP can be considered a sub-category under the unbrella of ITC. ITC encompasses all communication with the other side using technical devices, and evp refers to audio recordings only. Since EVP is the most popular form of ITC, most of the history you will find will be concerning EVP.
